Aperture library to 3.6 agree and wait for the update process to complete

When prompted to update the older 3.4.5.

Hold down the Option key and click Aperture to launch it and when prompted select your Aperture library to re-link your existing library to Aperture 3.6.

Upon completion, you should now be the proud owner of Aperture 3.6!! Which is… compatible with Yosemite!!.

Launch App Store and click on the Purchases tab, find the Aperture application in the list (assuming Aperture is a paid app) and click “Install”.

Drag the Aperture application into the trash but don’t empty the trash (just in case).

Here’s how to force update Aperture from 3.4.5 that is incompatible with Yosemite to 3.6: All you see is the Aperture application icon with a no entry sign painted across it and even if you launch App Store you cannot find Aperture 3.6 update anywhere. The most common complaint is that Aperture cannot be updated once you’ve installed Yosemite. It just jumped a few versions ahead to 3.6. What needs to be done is to update Aperture from 3.4.5 to 3.6. Its only upon completion you realise that the last version of Aperture was 3.4.5 and now it does not work with Yosemite….

You just hit the “update” button and finally gave in to installing Mac OS X 10.10, Yosemite on your Mac. Still, it's a loss not to have this software still under development.Its a chicken and egg scenario with Yosemite and Aperture. Many thanks to the various staff at Apple who made this work without any question or grumbling about supporting a program that was EOL quite some time ago. He waited on line until I had his email with his direct contact information, and then rang off.

He then gave specific instructions on how to use the redemption code to get Aperture 3.6 listed in my purchases and how that would even let me move it to different machine. He then said all would be good and that I would be getting a redemption code somewhere between a couple hours and a couple of days, depending on level of business on their end. By the time he came on line (again introduced by the previous rep), I had found my v3.0 box and read him the support ID.

He put me on hold to get a Pro App Support Supervisor. He said it could be made to work, but it would help to have the support # from v3.n. So far, about 8 minutes on the phone after the initial chat.Īfter multiple interstate moves, the first box I found was back from v1.5. She waited on line to introduce me to that rep, who knew exactly what we needed: a support ID from the box. The lady there understood the issue and knew the fix was elsewhere, checked and then transferred me to the Pro App Support. That led to 'you need to speak to someone' and they called me immediately (with only a couple minutes on hold.) The first person was really appreciative of the homework, and based on this discussion put me straight through to Enterprise Support. Late entry into this issue: I've been running Snow Leopard and Aperture 3.4.5 as long as possible, but wanted to upgrade before I missed the boat entirely and forever once 10.12 is released. Sometimes the App Store Support obliged with such a code, to make the El Capitan upgrade possible for owners of professional applications. If you own Aperture 3, but an older version, not associated with the App Store, because you never updated beyond Aperture 3.4.5, you can try to talk the AppStore support into providing a redeem code, so you can download Aperture 3.6.

Have you checked if Aperture is hidden in your Purchases? Only If you own a version of Aperture 3.6, that appears in your Purchases history (the fourth tab of the App Store) you can update by deleting Aperture and reinstalling.
